Stop in and see the art work from our newest vendor, Artist Robert P. Haldemen
What he does is tediously search through magazines looking for just the right bits of peach tone skin or deep brown eyes. He takes these tiny torn bits of paper and reconstructs them into images of some of our most iconic musicians, such as Janis Joplin, Jerry Garcia, Jimi Hendrix and John Lennon.
Haldeman sees a parallel in creation, whether it is artistic creation or musical creation. He uses the words of the musicians, most of whom were also songwriters who expressed themselves in a type of poetry for the times. Like Lennon, many were also visual artists who painted or drew.
It doesn't escape Haldeman that many of his subjects were tortured souls who died tragically and far too young. He feels a strong bond with the musical artists he portrays and does a great deal of research to understand their lives and dreams and motivations.
